Prioritize Generosity

Being generous in our giving in this season helps us as a church be generous to the community.

Give

Step 1: Make Preparations

  1. Pick out your favorite worship song.
  2. Get your Bible and turn to 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.
  3. Get crackers or bread for each family member.
  4. Pour a small amount of juice into a cup for each family member.

Step 2: Read the Word

Read this aloud to the family as you prepare for communion:

Celebrating communion marks the story of Jesus. How He gave Himself completely to give us eternal life and a fresh relationship with God. As often as we remember Jesus, we should celebrate Jesus.

Communion is important because it’s a command to remember. Jesus wants us to remember every time we taste bread and juice, and even when we sit at the tables in our own homes, that He is the one who provides all we need. He gives us the physical provisions that we need to survive and the spiritual nourishment we need to step into peace and joy on earth and an eternity with Him.

Step 3: Prayer

Open in prayer to place your attention as a family on the Lord.

Worship together with your favorite worship song.

Step 4: Partake in the Elements

Read 1 Corinthians 11:23-24

Pray together thanking Jesus for the body that was broken for us that we might receive healing through the brokenness in his own body.

Take the “Body” together.

Read 1 Corinthians 11:25-26

Pray together thanking Jesus for the blood that he shed at Calvary, where he paid the ransom for our sins giving to us grace in Christ Jesus.

Take the cup together

Pray and give thanks to the Lord for the goodness and grace that God has given to you.
